MET Gala "PUNK: from CHAOS to COUTURE"

PUNK! PUNK! PUNK!
I was absolutely happy and astound while watching this year Met Gala.
The dress code: punk and the exhibition: “Punk: from chaos to couture”.

Andrew Bolton is the curator of The Costume Institute and he wanted to show the development of the concept D.I.Y. (Do It Yourself) to “made to measure”. The exhibition will be held at the Metropolitan museum until August 14, 2013. It consists of 6 galleries: CBGB’s (NY punk), 430 Kings Road (London punk), Hardware, Bricolage, Graffiti and D.I.Y. deconstruction. Each one of them has a main designer that represents each concept. The exhibition also has some pieces that have been iconic of this fashion trend through history, like the safety pin dress.
I promise I will dig up a little bit more on punk history and its relevance in fashion. But today I want to show the dresses that I thought were the coolest in the red carpet. I got to say I was a little underwhelmed by the musicians, I expected them to embrace the dress code and have fun with it, au contraire many of them were simple and boring, and some others had beautiful dresses but they had nothing to do with PUNK!

So here are my favourite dresses from this red carpet!!!

Of course I gotta start with Blondie!
Debbie Harry in Tommy Hilfiger
They are simply punk!

Cara Delavingne in Burberry
Best dressed!!! I absolutely love this outfit!!

Sarah Jessica Parker wearing Phillip Treacy (head piece), Giles Deacon (dress) and LouBoutin (boots)

Anne Hathaway in Valentino
I gotta give it to her she bleached her hair for this, inspired by Debbie Harry!

Madonna in Givenchy

Miley Cyrus in Marc Jacobs

Stacy Keibler in Rachel Roy

Cameron Diaz in Stella McCartney
Look at the belt!! super cool!!!

Kate Bosworth in Balmain

Julianne Hough wearing Topshop
