Talking Rocking Fashion: D.I.Y. 1

My last post was about how I transformed a simple jacket into a more rock and roll garment (“ROCK AL PARQUE” PROJECT). So mean while I was shopping for the accessories that I was going to add to my boyfriend’s jacket, I couldn’t help to look around the store.

I am the kind of girls that can never have enough accessories, and that day I was already in a creative mood; so in a matter of 10 minutes I had an idea of a new necklace, and I ended up buying a golden ribbon and a black chain.

Every time I go into a store I take a look at the accessories, and most of the time they are not hard to make!! So in this short post I want to encourage you to make your own accessories, or perhaps restore one that you thought it was broken.

When you do this kind of handcrafts try to buy a little bit more of the materials, just in case you run out of it. In my case I bought 1.5 mt of golden ribbon, and 1 mt of black chain.

I took the ribbon and started inserting it through the chain link, interlacing it with the next link. You will see how the chain will guide you through it. When I finished going around it, I made a knot at the end and cut the remaining ribbon.

Now with the chain it isn’t that easy, you will need a set of pliers (usually they sell ones specially made for jewelry, which are smaller than the regular ones). You take the pliers and put them inside one of the endings links, and you open it with the pliers; you only need to open it as much as it is necessary for the other ending link to go inside, once you embed the links, you close the one you opened with the pliers, and that is it!!

You got a brand new necklace!!!
